Chocolate & Valentine Trivia
Richard Cadbury created the first known heart-shaped chocolate box for Valentine's Day in 1861.

Around 75% of chocolate is purchased by women, except for the week before Valentine's Day, when it switches, and 75% of purchases are made by men (presumably for women!)

The association of 14th February with love and romance probably goes back to Roman times, when this date was the eve of the Feast of Lupercalia. On this day, all the young girls put their names on slips of paper which were placed into a jar. The young men would then draw a name from the jar, and they would be partners for the duration of the festival. Often, the pairing would last for the rest of the year and the young couple would marry when they were older.
