Did you Know... Chocolate Easter eggs were first produced in the early 1800's, although it wasn't until 1905 that the first milk chocolate eggs, similar to those today, became available. The tradition of giving eggs at Easter, however, goes back thousands of years - even predating the Christian festival itself. The egg, usually painted or dyed, symbolises new life, and was a prominent feature of many spring festivals in the ancient world. The ultimate decorated eggs were made by Carl Fabergé, whose jewel encrusted works of art were created for the Russian royal family.
